9 intrepid riders formed the peloton for this Saturday's early morning sojourn to the You Yangs, Little River and back. Heading into a stiff northerly breeze made for tough conditions early on. Once in the shelter of the trees, we had some protection from the wind, but compensated with 3 climbs to the You Yangs car park for punishment, before heading off to Little River, where, again, the run along Little River-Ripley Rd into the strong northerly wind proved tough, breaking the peloton up. Once at Little River however, the return journey was quite quick – although, as fate would have it, the wind turned just enough to come across our right shoulders, making the journey just that little bit more difficult.
As you can see in the photos, spirits were high at the subsequent coffee stop at Rod's Bakery. However, the party broke up quickly when a wind gust caught a couple of the bikes and smashed them into the pavement!
